Recap: 4th Annual GTHS Friends for Life Walkathon

Our very own Gertie!

Every year Georgian Triangle Humane Society (GTHS) holds an annual fundraiser that brings out 250-500 supporters and their furry friends to walk a trail in the Collingwood and Blue Mountain area.  This year’s event, which was held September 24th,  was filled with activities, events and local vendor displays and of course, lots of walking.  The Mortgage Centre Sunshine Financial team is proud to have become a sponsor this year’s event.  Every year, more and more animals are rescued from being stray, unwanted, abandoned, neglected or abused.  In 2013 there were 681 animal intakes, in 2014 that number increased to 784, and in 2015 it jumped to 1002 animal intakes.  GTHS endeavors to accommodate as many domestic animals as they can in their dedicated shelter and help them find their forever homes.

You can help the animals in need:

FUNDRAISE – By asking your friends, family, neighbours and colleagues for their support, you can dramatically increase the impact you have on the animals in need!

VOLUNTEER – Without volunteers, the Friends for Life Walk would not be as successful as it is.  Being a volunteer is a great way to help the shelter and is both rewarding and fun!

SPONSOR – As a Sponsor of next year’s event you will not only be supporting a great cause but will reach a target audience of hundreds. As a small business owner, I like to support local events that mean something to me.  Our family dog, Gertie, is from the GTHS shelter and she has become a very lovable member of our family.  I challenge other local small business owners to consider sponsoring an event like this too!

RAISE AWARENESS – Show your support by liking and sharing on social media pages. Your support of GTHS is important, as local animals continue to need the shelter’s help.
